Property Watch: Double offer in Dudley as landmark Merewether home returns to market

A property in Dudley which features an 1897 miner’s cottage as well as a separate garage with loft accommodation will be sold through expressions of interest due to its “unique” nature.

McKiernan Real Estate are marketing the 404 square metre property at 5 Gardner Street and interest is expected to be varied at its first open home at 11am on Saturday.

“We always talk about unique properties but this one definitely is that and that’s why we’re running expressions of interest,” agent Andrew McKiernan said.

“It’s a difficult one to price because there’s not much to compare it to.

“You’ve got two street frontages. There is a studio with bedroom accommodation in the loft and you’ve got the lock-up garage, kitchen, bathroom and living area.

“Then you’ve got an old miners cottage, well over 100 year old, on Boundary Street, which is right opposite Dudley Primary School.”

Mr McKiernan said there had been plenty of enquiry since hitting the market this week.

“It would suit someone who would want to live in one of the residences and rent the other one out,” he said.

“There are also some concept plans to join the two together to make it one big home.”

The two dwellings are separated by a leafy yard.
